"Piano Guild" Auditions:
Dr. Eugenia Posey-Marcos is a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers (i.e., the “Piano Guild”), the largest, non-profit organization of piano teachers in the world. The primary function of the NGPT is to establish definite goals and awards for piano students of all levels and ages, from the earliest beginner to the most advanced student. All piano students have a yearly opportunity to attain these goals through non-competitive adjudication in the Annual National Piano Playing Auditions (the “Guild Auditions”). To qualify for the Annual National Piano Playing Auditions, the students first must become a member of the National Fraternity of Student Musicians.
The Piano School of Gaithersburg, Maryland would like to invite each Piano School student to become a member of the National Fraternity of Student Musicians (NFSM), so that he/she may participate in the Guild Auditions. Auditions are private (only between the student and judge). Students are judged on individual merit in the areas of accuracy, continuity, phrasing, pedaling, dynamics, rhythm, temp, tone, interpretation, style and technique.
When a student participates in the “Guild Auditions”, he/she will receive the following recognition:
(1) A Membership Certificate according to classification.
(2) An NFSM Membership Pin.
(3) A copy Analysis Chart and Report Card signed by the Guild examiner.
(4) The student’s name on his/her teacher’s NFSM Certificate.
(5) If a fifth-year, tenth-year, or fifteenth-year National or International Winner, the student gets his/her name listed and photo published in Piano Guild Notes (the international journal from the American College of Musicians).
If you are interested in becoming a member of the NFSM and would like to play in the Guild Auditions, please contact PSG for more details.
